Beck get remixed by Nortec Collective
Beck approached Nortec Collective to remix "Que Onda Guero" for the vinyl
and import CD versions of his remix collection, "Guerolito." The end result
has the track turned into a Mexican dancehall cumbia suitable for
quinceañera parties and low riding. Other remixers include Air, Boards Of
Canada, Dizzee Rascal and more.
Panoptica releases remixes collection "Ahora Yo A Ti..."
Panotica has released "Ahora Yo A Ti...", a compilation of tracks remixed by
Panoptica on his Noarte label. Among the artists getting the treatment
include Calexico, Her Space Holiday, David J, as well as fellow nortecos
Bostich and Clorofila. Licensed and distributed by Nacional Records.

Ritmo 55 CD
After appearing on various compliations and doing a string
of live shows, Pepe Mogt of Fussible has released "Ritmo 55,"
his debut under his Latinsizer alter ego. The project mixes bits of
old school analog electronics, soul, ambient pop and lo fi, to come up
with a flavor all it's own.

Alan Parsons and Nortec Collective works on Tijuaniac!
A valid path, is the new album from Alan Parsons, where he colaborate with nortec to create the track Tijuaniac.
Here is the track commentary from Alan Parsons : " They work almost exclusively with laptop computers and are a sight
to see when they are performing together. They go out in different combinations according to their availability -
one of them for example is a professional dentist! This is the chill-out track of the album. I love how we worked
together to combine spacey electronic textures with real mariachi brass and Mexican spoken word and traditional bar singing."

Random events yield CD
Following on the heels of the release of Colores Vol 1, we¹re already
preparing our first 2004 CD release a collection of tracks by Latinsizer,
Mendoza, tre/molo and Point Loma, four alternate projects from members of
the Nortec Collective. The CD takes it¹s title from the series of Tijuana
improvisation based events in which these projects participate.

Fussible remixes Ennio Morricone for Compost
Compost Records is putting the finishing touches on 2 collections of remixed
versions of tracks by maestro Ennio Morricone, without a doubt, one of the
greatest soundtrack composers of all time. Fussible had the honor of
remixing ³Allegretto Per Signora² from the film ³Le Foto Proibite Di Una
Signora Per Bene², infusing some Nortec vibes into the breezy Mediterreanean
groove of the original. The remix will appear in Vol 2 of "Ennio Morricone
Remixes" which will be out early 2004. Other artists contributing to the
project include Tom Middleton, Daniel Klein aka Gucciman, Chicken Lips,
Domu, Alessio Santoni, Haruomi Hosono, Gerd, Nick Holder and The

Panoptica remixes Calexico
Roberto from Panoptica has put some norteño flavor on ³Guero Canelo,² a
mutant cumbia from Calexico¹s most recent album "Feast of Wire," for an
upcoming remixes collection to be released by German label City Slang.
Panoptica will be sharing the remix duties with artists such as Jazzanova,
Cinematic Orchestra, Wechsel Garland, Gotan Project, Thievery Corporation

tre/molo and Discar collaborate with Esopus Magazine
tre/molo y Discar ( two projects from Colores Vol. 1 ) also appear in a CD
compilation included with Esopus Issue 1, the debut issue of an art magazine
edited in New York by Tod Lippy. The included CD is based on the concept of
Public Domain, so Lippy bought 200 MP3s of public domain music off the
Internet. The tracks were then sent to musicians who were comissioned to
compose tracks using these MP3s as source material or cover one of these
tracks. Other participants in the project include Mark Eitzel, Dean Wareham
(singer and guitarist in NYC band, Luna) and Haley Bonar. For more info:

Point Loma in Bob Moog documentary
Ramon Amezcua, aka Bostich has composed a track under his Point Loma alias
for the upcoming soundtrack to a documentary on Bob Moog, considered by
many, the inventor of the modern synthesizer. The film is being put together
by Ryan Page and Hans Fjellestad, the same team that brought you the
³Frontierlife,² documentary and is expected to be released in mid 2004.
Besides Point Loma, the not-too-shabby contributors list on the soundtrack
includes Stereolab, Orbital, Devo, Jack Dangers of Meat Beat Manifesto, DJ
Spooky, Tortoise, Hans Fjellestad and Luke Vibert.For more info:
